James & Jo’s Huddersfield Canal Boat Wedding

Huddersfield Canal Boat Wedding Video with James & Jo {Trailer}

We first met James & Jo back in 2012 whilst filming their friends, Laura and Tim’s beautiful Tipi wedding video where Jo had been bridesmaid and so we were absolutely thrilled to be asked to capture their big day too and have the chance to catch up with some old friends along the way. It was great to also have the chance to catch up with fantastic photographers James and Lianne who are always a pleasure to work alongside! The excitement didn’t stop there though, particularly when the lovely Jo and James revealed to us where their venue would be and just how they planned to get there…

We’ve covered all modes of transport since we started filming weddings from classic cars to horse drawn carriages to VW Campervans, but when James & Jo told us they would be arriving at their reception venue, Huddersfield’s Standedge Tunnel Visitor Centre, by traditional Canal Boat it was definitely a first!

If our anticipation had been built up before the big day this Huddersfield Canal Boat wedding certainly didn’t disappoint with an enchanting ceremony at the magnificent St Bartholomew’s Church in Marsden, situated conveniently right by the canal ready for the grandest of reception entrances as Bride and Groom were greeted on Standedge’s dock by a glass of champagne, a brilliant dixie jazz band playing “Down By the Riverside” along with all of their cheering guests!

The musical entertainment didn’t stop there though as, following some amazing speeches including the best man producing a fully-fledged Haynes engineering manual of how to maintain the groom along with the father of the bride’s tale (no pun intended) of the family’s rather grumpy cat, all the guests were able to rock out to a live band and dance the night away in style by the waterside.

It was a fun-filled, fantastic wedding full of amazing characters and all kinds of revelry! Thank you so much to James and Jo for inviting us along for the ride and huge congratulations on a truly unforgettable day! So we hope you enjoy this little preview of some of our favourite moments from the day!
